The Multimedia Desk
The design requirement was for a standing desk with specific dimensions and a beautiful top. For the base of the desk, a motorized standing desk was chosen, leaving only the top to design. To match the base, the design needed to present as minimalist and match the edge profile of the motorized base.

The design.
To accomplish a minimalist design, a short but deep chamfer was added to the underside of the table. This would give the appearance that the top was much thinner than it was and followed the design of the base.

The Material
With only the top to worry about, walnut boards with high contrast and interesting grain patterns were hand selected and arranged to create interest.

The Method.
An oil finish was chosen to preserve the open pore nature and unique tactile feel of the walnut.

The Result.
A seemingly simple design requirement benefitted greatly from design choices which perfectly blended different items together.
